Academic Integrity Responsibilities of Keyano College Community

It is the responsibility of all members of the College Community to uphold of the principles of Academic Integrity in all activities related to learning, teaching, research, and service.

 To educate
  • It is the responsibility of Faculty and staff to model academic integrity principles in teaching, learning, and research
  • It is the responsibility of all members of the College community to familiarize themselves with and seek further support, as provided by campus supports, where necessary to understand and apply to principles of academic integrity
  • It is the responsibility of the College to provide a range of resources and training to facilitate understanding and application of academic integrity principles. This includes

  • All community members have the right to seek guidance and support from the Office of Academic Integrity, their leaders, instructors, and campus academic supports (e.g. Library, Academic Success Centre).
  • The Office of Academic Integrity serves as an impartial third party to ensure fair, unbiased, and honest evaluation and guidance are provided to all throughout the academic integrity process.
 To report
  • All members of Keyano College are responsible for reporting suspected academic misconduct in a timely manner
  • Reports of suspected academic misconduct should be made using the form below

 

Understanding Academic Integrity Tutorial

The Keyano College Understanding Academic Integrity Tutorial is:

  • A mandatory training for all credit students (and any other member of the college community, as directed)
  • The tutorial is designed to foster understanding of and apply academic integrity principles
  • Part of the College’s commitment to equipping individuals with necessary knowledge and tools to be successful as a member of the college community

Keyano College offers a range of services and resources to support all members of its community in upholding the principles of academic integrity and responsibilities outlined in the Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure. Supports include one-on-one consultation, workshops, outreach events, and online resources. Additionally, the College provides resources and guidance on ethical research practices to ensure that all academic work adheres to the highest integrity standards.

What is the process if I have been accused of Academic Misconduct?
  • You will be informed by your instructor that you have been accused of an offence and will request a meeting to discuss the matter further.
  • Find information in the Academic Integrity Procedure
Can I bring someone in for support during my Academic Misconduct Hearing?
You can request support from the Students Association of Keyano College (SAKC) to attend a meeting with you.
What if I am found guilty of Academic Misconduct?

The consequences can vary depending on the severity of the reported case and if you have been found guilty of academic misconduct before. Consequences could include, but is not limited to, receiving an informal warning, receiving a grade of zero on the assignment or test, or suspension or expulsion from the college.

Can I appeal the decision? 
  • Yes, you can appeal the decisions within 5 business days of receiving the decision.
  • Details on the appeal can be found in the Academic Integrity policy
