Program Overview
The Business Aviation Diploma program is for learners who are interested in pursuing a career in aviation business operations. This two-year diploma program provides students with business knowledge along with the aviation training compliant with Transport Canada standards. Through successful acquisition of both a private and commercial pilot’s license within
the program, graduates may pursue career specializations in Northern Aviation Operations or Airline Operations. This program is in collaboration with McMurray Aviation, a regional commercial aviation services provider located in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Applications are accepted for Fall and Winter semesters. Please submit your application as soon as possible as many programs fill up quickly.

In addition to demonstrating English Language Proficiency, applicants whose first language is not English must also present Spoken Language Proficiency. Applicants who have six or more years of full-time education (including grade 12 year or higher) in a Canadian school where the language of instruction was English, meet this requirement. If applicants do not present these years of English education, they can meet this requirement by presenting one of the following:

Transport Canada Medical Examination 1 – for aviation / flying component. |
Canadian Indigenous applicants |
Two positions per year are made available in the Business Aviation Diploma Program for qualified Canadian Indigenous applicants. If qualified Canadian Indigenous applicants are not admitted by May 30, the positions may be filled with students of non-Indigenous ancestry. |

Gregory John Krabes - Business Instructor |
![]() Gregory Krabes joined Keyano College in August 2017. He also teaches at Athabasca University, and is a visiting professor at Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops BC). Prior to these appointments, he lectured and conducted research in Europe, China, and The Middle East. Before joining academia, Gregory was an Economic Diplomat with Société Générale de Surveillance headquartered in Geneva. Gregory holds a BBA and an MBA in Power Engineering. His areas of discipline are international business, policy, strategy, and economic diplomacy. Gregory's research interests include international education, international management, and global development.

Prior to teaching, Geraldine accumulated over 25 years experience in Finance, Financial/Investment Management, Employee Benefits, and Human Resources Management. Her area of discipline is human resources and strategic management. Geraldine's research interests include International Post-Secondary Education.

Dr. Pratibha Shalini - Business Instructor |
From 2011-2014, Dr. Shalini worked as a Credit Analyst in Barclays UK Corporate Banking, followed by a four year stint in Retail Banking with TSB Bank in Glasgow, UK. Since 2020, her focus has been Post-Secondary teaching roles in Canada. Her areas of discipline are economics, business mathematics, operations management, and international business. Dr. Shalini's research interests include financial inclusion, financial literacy, behaviour economics, and economic and social development.
