What inspires you to pursue your current career?

From a very early age, I have always been interested in business and government. My first job was in the retail sector, and I have always enjoyed meeting new people and making personal connections.
My career has evolved over time from government and the private sector to my current position at Keyano College.
On my career path, I have met amazing women who support and inspire me each day. I am in awe of their accomplishments and model myself after them to become a better leader.

Who are the women role models or mentors who have influenced you the most, and why?

From a young age, my Mom has been my role model. She was born in 1939, a time when educational opportunities for women were limited. Not one to let limitations stand in her way, she went to school to become a Practical Nurse. My Mom inspired me to pursue postsecondary education and to be independent. The lessons and advice she has given me make me the woman and mother I am today.

In what ways do you believe women's voices can be better amplified and represented in society?

I believe that one of the best ways to accomplish this is to become involved in the community. By joining a board or committee or volunteering your time, you are impacting others and bringing about positive change. Another way in which women can impact society is by exercising their right to vote. My parents always stressed the importance of voting, and it is something that I never take for granted.

How do you support and empower other women in your community or workplace?

I support and empower women in my community and workplace by acknowledging and celebrating their accomplishments.
