Chantal Beaver - AVP, Public Engagement

Chantal BeaverChantal Beaver is a seasoned leader and community advocate who has dedicated her career to fostering strong, inclusive communities. A proud alumna of Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) in Halifax, Chantal completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees while actively engaging in student governance as President of the Students' Union and a member of the university's Board of Directors and Senate.

Upon graduation, Chantal began her professional journey at the YWCA of Halifax, where she held various roles focused on empowering young women. Her commitment to this cause culminated in her appointment as the Director of Women's Services in 2010, where she led initiatives that significantly improved the lives of those she served.

In 2012, Chantal transitioned to Wood Buffalo, taking on the role of Executive Director at the Hub Family Resource Centre. Throughout her tenure, she also represented the social-profit sector at the United Way and Red Cross Community Partnership table, where she collaborated in allocating over $40 million in funding for social recovery efforts after the Horse River Wildfire. She also co-led the Social Recovery Task Force during this challenging time.

As the Executive Director of FuseSocial from 2018 to 2022, Chantal led a dynamic team towards fostering collective impact, collaboration, and social innovation in the region. Currently, she holds the position of Associate Vice President of Public Engagement at Keyano College, where she oversees public relations and public services, further solidifying her commitment to community engagement and development.

Chantal has significant leadership experience on various boards and committees. From 2017 until 2024, she served as a Board Director for the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo, navigating challenges like COVID-19 and local flooding. She has chaired several initiatives that unite stakeholders.

Her community involvement includes leadership roles with the Fort McMurray Early Years Coalition, the Boys & Girls Club Board, and the Convergence Advisory Committee. Additionally, she is a founding member of the Alberta Non-Profit Network, showcasing her commitment to the non-profit sector's growth and sustainability.

In 2022, Chantal was appointed to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Pacific Northwest and Western Canada Cabinet. She is currently chairing a major conference that will host over 300 educational professionals and continues to serve in this role.

Chantal is recognized for her outstanding leadership and has received several accolades. She was named one of the inaugural Top 50 under 50 by YMM magazine. She also won the Heart of Wood Buffalo Executive Leadership Award and the Board Leadership Award. In 2024, she was honoured as a Woman of Inspiration by Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta.
