Electrician - Master

We offer a 75-hour Electrician - Master course to help prepare students and electrical journeypersons to write the Masters Electrician Safety Codes examination. The course is also useful for engineers and planners who implement and interpret Canadian Electrical Code changes.

This course addresses essential topics, such as:

  • Interpreting rules within the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Calculation and application of demand factors
  • Review of single- and three-phase systems
  • Transformer connections
  • Over current protection of transformers
  • Motors and feeders
  • Interrupting capacities of fuses and circuit breakers
  • Electrician trade regulation
  • Workers' compensation legislation
  • Certification and permit regulation
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Apprenticeship Program Regulation Prerequisite

Admission requirements

The Safety Codes Council determines your eligibility to write the Masters Electrician Safety Codes exam. The normal requirement is three years of experience as a journeyperson.

Engineers and planners are eligible to take the course, but ineligible to take the final Masters Electrician Safety Codes exam.

Tuition and fees

Tuition for the Electrician - Master course is $1,825.00 plus GST.

The Masters Electrician Safety Codes Examination carries an additional fee of $200.00 with Safety Codes Canada. More information is available during the course's first class.

You will need a copy of the 2015 Electrical Code Book and a scientific calculator. Find these resources at our Keyano College Bookstore.
