Syncrude, operated by Suncor, provides generous sponsorship to the Indigenous Student Centre
Keyano College's Indigenous Student Centre (ISC), which will become a cornerstone of cultural engagement and education, has received a generous $100,000 donation from Syncrude, operated by Suncor.
The ISC will feature a ceremonial area, learning commons, a communal kitchen, an Indigenous art display, and a space for an Elder-in-residence program. The Centre aims to promote inclusivity, a sense of belonging, and celebrating Indigenous culture. By providing a dedicated space for traditional teaching and learning methods, Keyano hopes to increase the percentage of Indigenous students, improve graduation rates through enhanced support and representation, and offer more educational opportunities for non-Indigenous individuals to promote a deeper understanding of Indigenous heritage.
Syncrude’s significant contribution underscores its support for Indigenous education and cultural preservation in the region, inspiring others to consider how they can make a meaningful impact. Operating in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo for over 45 years, Syncrude supports local organizations and initiatives that promote education, the development of current and future workforces, and cultural diversity.
Businesses and individuals interested in supporting this initiative can find more information and explore sponsorship opportunities at Keyano.ca/ISC. Join us in making a continuing impact on the lives of Indigenous students and the broader community.
