Infinity Métis Corporation and McMurray Métis Local 1935 generously sponsor the Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) at Keyano College
Keyano College's Indigenous Student Centre (ISC), which will become a cornerstone of cultural engagement and education, has received a generous $100,000 contribution from Infinity Métis Corporation and McMurray Métis Local 1935. Their sponsorship will support the three-year naming rights for the Gathering Space within the center. The Gathering Space holds deep cultural significance and is the focal point of the ISC. As a hub for cultural teachings and events, the Gathering Space will be used to foster community and connection.
In addition to the Gathering Space, ISC will also feature a learning common, a communal kitchen, an Indigenous art display, and a space for an Elder-in-residence program. The Centre aims to promote inclusivity, a sense of belonging, and the celebration of Indigenous culture. By providing a dedicated space for traditional teaching and learning methods, Keyano hopes to increase the percentage of Indigenous students, improve graduation rates through enhanced support and representation, and offer more educational opportunities for non-Indigenous individuals to promote a deeper understanding of Indigenous heritage.
McMurray Metis Local 1935 has many members that attend Keyano, and very positive bursary program. This space will support those members and all students looking for a Métis space at Keyano College.
The ISC’s grand opening is scheduled for May 2025. Businesses and individuals interested in supporting this initiative can find more information and explore sponsorship opportunities, such as naming rights for an Art Display at Keyano.ca/ISC.
Join us in making a continuing impact on the lives of Indigenous students and the broader community.
