Yoga Classes

Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is often described as 'acupuncture without the needles' as it targets meridians, organs and connective tissue.  Although most poses incorporate the lower body (this is because all meridians run through the spine) there are poses that involve the upper body.  It is a beautiful blend of asana and meditation.  Students will be asked to bring at least 2 props (either blankets, towels or pillows) should they need the support in various poses. Yin yoga enhances the range of motion in the connective tissue (joints, ligaments, tendons) of the lower spine, pelvis and hips by holding the (primarily seated) postures for longer periods of time.

Flow Yoga

Flow Yoga places emphasis on a fluid, dynamic, movement of the body while enjoying a deep sense of relaxation and well being. It incorporates Ashtanga Yoga asanas (poses) within a creative sequence and a different beat (R & B, soft rap and dance music). The soundtrack will keep you invigorated and engaged as you challenge and revitalize your body. It is still a mindful practice, as participants are constantly reminded to focus on ujjayi breath technique and bhandas contraction (body locks). The practice slows down and concluded with the finishing series, including padmasana (seating in stillness) and savasana (full relaxation). At the end, you will feel strong, calm, and centred: ready to enjoy your weekend!
