PN: Practical Nurse Program
Program Description
The Practical Nurse (PN) program is brokered from NorQuest College in Edmonton, Alberta. All instruction and related practical experience is held at the Fort McMurray Clearwater Campus.
The two year Practical Nurse program will prepare students for a career in high quality nursing care in many different setting. The practical nurse works co-operatively with other health care personnel in the promotion, maintenance and restoration of wellness.
Admission Requirements
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, with a minimum of 60% in English 30/30-1 or 70% in English 33/30-2, 60 % Biology 30, 60% Math 20/23/Applied or 50 % Pure Math 20.
- Applicants whose first language is not English must present a minimum of 83 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT) or equivalent.
- Applicants educated outside of Canada must demonstrate that they have successfully completed the English Language, Mathematics and Science requirement specified above. All foreign transcripts must be assessed by the International Qualifications Assessment Service.
- CPR Basic Rescuer Certificate Level C must be completed before clinical starts.
- Current Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) course (within the last three years)
- Medical from and up-to-date immunization; Hepatitis B immunization may be completed while in the program.
- Current RCMP Criminal Check (required before hospital or ambulance practicum can begin).
- Minimum age at start of program of 18 years. Mature Student
- A high school diploma is recommended
- Must have the English, Math, and Biology entrance requirements
- Must meet non-academic requirements.
