EMT-P: Paramedic Technology Diploma
Program Description
The field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is both challenging and rewarding, with ample opportunity for employment in the workforce. If you want to start each day knowing that you have the ability, education and skills to make a difference in someone’s life, than the EMS field is for you.
Paramedics provide assessment, treatment and life support in medical emergencies prior to entry into an acute care facility.
Admission Requirements
- Alberta High School Diploma, or equivalent, with a minimum of 50% in English 30/30-1 or 65% in English 33/30-2, Biology 30 or another 30 level science, Math 20/23/Applied or Pure Math 20
- EMT certificate from the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP).
- CPR certificate within the last year.
- Current Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) course (within the last three years)
- Medical form and up-to-date immunizations.
- Resume highlighting field experience.
- Valid Class 1, 2 or 4 Driver’s License
- National Academy of Professional Driving certificate preferred.
- Current RCMP Criminal Check (required before hospital or ambulance practicum can begin).
- Minimum age at start of program of 18 years.

Advanced credit may be granted to applicants who have completed equivalent education at a post-secondary institution, please refer to the Prior Learning and Assessment section.
Program Outcomes
At graduation, students are prepared to write the Alberta College of Paramedics regulation exam.
