New diploma in Fitness Leadership and Movement
With increased fitness amenities in the region and more on the way, demand for trained fitness instructors and personal trainers is going to continue to rise. Keyano College is offering a new diploma program in Fitness Leadership and Movement starting in September.
Graduates of this program will be able to plan and instruct fitness classes, perform a variety of fitness testing protocols, counsel individuals and groups regarding fitness programs and both establish and operate fitness programs in industry, clubs and communities.
“We are ready to offer our students an exciting career option in a field that is poised for continual growth and demand in the coming years,” said Clayton Nielsen, Kinesiology Instructor, Keyano College.
“Graduates can choose to pursue excellent career opportunities in a multitude of facilities and programs here in Wood Buffalo, or continue on to university to earn their degree. In fact, our two-year diploma program has the highest transferability of courses (to the U of A) of any program like it in the province.”
“We have seen enrolment growth in our Kinesiology programming and the Fitness Leadership and Movement diploma program is going to create new capacity in the fitness instruction area at a time when our population continues to grow and there is increasing demand for health and fitness facilities, programs and expertise. The launch of this program comes at an opportune time,” said Ann Everatt, Vice President, Academic.
Applications are now being accepted for the Fitness Leadership and Movement diploma program starting in the fall semester, with the bulk of the course work slated to occur in the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. Students can begin the application process online at www.applyalberta.ca. For additional information about the program you can click here or call 780-791-4801 or 1-800-251-1408.
