Leadership in Action welcomes Tony Mankowski
It’s not only about what works, but also what doesn’t work – for Tony Mankowski leadership is a journey filled with ups and down and it is important to learn from both. Mankowski will headline the Leadership in Action Speaker Event on January 18 in Elements Dining and will be sharing these and many more insights from his career, which spans three decades in the oil sands.
He is the Vice President of Operations at Nexen, Long Lake Operations, a position he has held for the last three years. Prior to joining Nexen, he worked for Syncrude Canada for 27 years where his diverse portfolio boasted leadership positions ranging from business to technical operations.
“Leadership means having the courage to do what’s right and having a strong vision to go where you want to go and share that vision with your team as well. You have to have the drive, and then have team-work,” explains Mankowski.
The Leadership in Action certificate program at Keyano College features principles-to-practice approaches, hands-on exercises, and case studies that can be employed at work immediately. Whether you have experience leading teams or are planning to lead, this program offers the experience of instructors and fellow participants to provide a good ground work for leadership.
Program courses include: Leading People, Total Time Management, Mentor-Coach as a Leader, High Performance Teams: Working in Agreement, Communication Techniques for Leaders, Leading Presentations and Meetings, You as a Leader, Driving Results, Evaluating and Training Employees, and Capitalizing on Diversity.
A huge supporter of Keyano College, Mankowsi is looking forward to the event and is keen to share his perspectives and learn from the audience as well.
“I have a strong interest in education. Keyano College is a community hub, and I am looking forward to this event.”
The free event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Please RSVP here by January 13.
