Keyano College and 3M Canada: New Partners in Safety and Training
Historic Memorandum of Understanding Signed
Keyano College and 3M Canada have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as a first step in establishing a relationship to explore the opportunity of participating in the research and development of health and safety training initiatives and supplying safety products and services to the oil sands industry.
“We share a belief that facilitating locally-based research and innovation is an opportunity that exists in the oil sands region,” said Dr. Kevin Nagel, President and CEO, Keyano College. “In meeting with senior leaders from 3M Canada, it became clear that bringing their global resources to bear in a region that has a growing global impact makes a lot of sense.”
“We both have a strong interest in industry safety and training related initiatives, and we’re both interested in the advancement of innovations in the field of sustainable oil sands development and operation,” Dr. Nagel said.
3M is a global innovation company that is actively committed to sustainable development through environmental protection, social responsibility and economic progress. Their vision is to ignite the sparks of innovation for new product development & training initiatives with a continued focus within the natural resources industry.
”3M has been committed to providing both product and health and safety training solutions to the oil sands for many years,” said Bill Boyce, Executive Director of 3M Canada’s Safety, Security, and Protection Services Business. “We are excited to reinforce our support to the local region by collaborating with Keyano College.”
“Keyano College is excited to begin working with 3M on shared initiatives that will make our college, community, region and oil sands industry stronger and more sustainable,” said John Wilson, Chair, Keyano College Board of Governors. “We look forward to welcoming both the representatives and the expertise of this leading-edge company to our region in the weeks and months ahead. This MOU provides a meaningful framework for our respective organizations to begin to explore the many potential ways that we can work together.”
