You don’t have to leave Fort McMurray to pursue an education at the university level. Whether you want to go into medicine, write the next big novel or become an engineer, you can get a great start by registering in our University Studies courses.

 

University Transfer

 

At Keyano College you can complete the first two years of many programs, and actually complete a full four-year degree in others. All of the courses offered at Keyano are designed to be transferable to the University of Alberta and are accepted by many other institutions as well, including the University of Lethbridge, the University of Calgary and universities in other provinces. However, you are encouraged to contact an academic advisor at Keyano, as well as your intended transfer institution, to ensure you select courses that will meet all admission requirements in your chosen degree program. Bachelor of Education

 

Passionate about teaching? The region of Wood Buffalo needs you. In response to the growing need for teachers, Keyano College is pleased to offer an exciting collaboration with the University of Alberta that has resulted in the College offeringa Bachelor of Education degree. This degree program will be a great fit for you if you’re currently studying education or general studies, are looking for an after-degree, or if you are already working as an educational assistant.

 

Bachelor of Social Work

 

Keyano College recently began offering a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in collaboration with the University of Calgary, which allows students to complete the degree program in Fort McMurray. The program involves face-to-face lectures and a practicum component that is hands-on and authentic in its orientation. After two years of university general studies, students in their third and fourth years will cover four areas of study over two years. These areas include: Social Work Methods, Generalist Practice in Context, Communications and Information, and Diversity and Oppression. This degree will assist in meeting the growing community demand for qualified social workers.

 

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

 

Nursing is a chance to make a vital difference in someone’s life every day. Combining knowledge from humanities and sciences, you’ll study evidence-based nursing practices that enhance the promotion, protection, restoration and maintenance of health, and prevention of disease and injury. Our Nursing instructors will enhance your education by acting as resources, role models and facilitators, while promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.

 

At Keyano College, our faculty is committed to ensuring that nursing graduates are competent and accountable, and can look critically and creatively into the future of health care. Keyano College has been offering the University of Alberta Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program for over a decade. Graduates of the Keyano Program receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Alberta.

 

Post RN (BSCN) Degree

 

Registered Nurses who have graduated from diploma nursing programs may access a baccalaureate education by enrolling in the Post RN Collaborative Degree Program. The curriculum of the Post RN Degree Program is based on the U of A’s Post RN Degree Program. Thus, students are required to meet the university’s specified prerequisites. A student completing the Post RN Degree Program will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Alberta.
