Balanced budget provides challenge and opportunity

The Keyano College Board of Governors approved a $74.9 million balanced budget at last night's public meeting. The 2009-2010 budget titled Optimize Resources and Opportunities for Future Growth, reflects both the uncertainty and the potential of these fiscally dynamic times. The Keyano College Board of Governors is pleased to announce John Rhind and Jeff Pardee's appointment as its newest members. John Rhind is the Chief Operating Officer of Shell Albian Sands. He has been with the company for almost a year, and has worked for Syncrude Canada Ltd. for the last 24 years. Rhind used to sit on the Keyano Foundation's Board of Directors, and is an active community member. The Keyano College Board of Governors decided on the implementation of a non-refundable application processing fee of $40 that will commence on August 1, 2007."This is the standard practice at colleges across Alberta," said Gilbert Perras, Director, Student Services. On September 27 at the Keyano Board of Governors meeting, CUPE Local 2157 and the Keyano College Faculty Association (KCFA) signed their three year agreements. The KCFA and the Keyano Board of Governors have ratified a three year agreement that will cover a period from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2009. The agreement will result in four per cent, four per cent and 4.25 per cent wage increases to the salary grid over the next three years.
