Learner Assistance Program

To schedule an appointment with a counsellor please call 780-791-8934 or 780-791-8951 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Are you experiencing difficulties in the classroom? If so, there is help available for you. The Learner Assistance Program (LAP) provides services to current and prospective students whose disabilities involve any number of conditions affecting mobility, vision, hearing, learning, physical or mental health. Students are responsible for providing current documentation of their disability (i.e. psychoeducational assessment). Students are encouraged to pick up a copy of the "Handbook for Students with Disabilities" guide from the Counselling & Career Services office.

Who Is Eligible?

Any student with special needs is eligible for assistance through our Learner Assistance Program. The list below includes some of the issues our previous students have faced:

  • Deafness or hard of hearing
  • Blindness or visual impairments
  • Mobility impairments
  • Physical Disabilities
  • Learning Disabilities
  • ADHD
  • Brain Injuries
  • Diagnosed Mental Health Disability
  • Chronic health issues
  • Temporary disabling conditions

Self Disclosure

It is the responsibility of the student to self that they have a disability.

Confidentiality

Information regarding your disability is confidential. Although faculty and staff must be aware that a disability is present in order to provide accommodations, they only receive specific information about the nature of the disability at your request. Information will not be released about your disability without your written authorization.
