Our Services

One-on-one tutoring:
Individualized tutoring is essential for your success. The one-on-one tutoring will be provided through drop-in services.
Workshops:
One hour workshops divided into 3 parts: a 20 minute presentation, a 20 minute application of the skills, and 20 minutes of individualized assistance. Effective handouts will be provided and your specific writing questions will be answered! Topics will include: "Referencing and the Academic Paper", "Essay Building Blocks", and "Writing Style"
Online Writing Lab
Your writing questions answered! The Writing Centre offers a question and answer service via email. Simply send your specific writing questions to Writing@keyano.ca.

The services of the Writing Centre are available to all students. The number of tutors available will determine the accessibility of tutoring sessions. Students interested in receiving assistance can come to the SKILL Centre for drop-in hours or can contact the facilitator.

The Writing Centre is not a proof-reading service. We assist you by helping you identify and correct your own writing errors. We work with you and ask that you actively participate in the process.

What to expect from a drop-in appointment at the Writing Centre:

  • You are asked to: bring the assignment instructions and have a legible (if possible, double spaced) document.
  • During the drop-in appointment, you are asked to: participate, ask questions, practice what you are learning, not expect to see your whole document and respect the limits set by the tutor.
  • After the drop-in session, you are asked to use your checklist, complete your "homework" (following the steps suggested by the tutor which will assist your progress), and apply the writing skills learned to the rest of your document.

Your participation is essential to both the success of your drop-in appointment and to your progress!

Please note: The Centre cannot work with students on: Take-home exams or tests; applications, resumes, translations or letters.
